Idealist.org is a project of Action Without Borders.  AWB was founded in New York City in 1995 as a non-profit organization named Contact Center Network. Their website was originally called Contact.org; with improved technology and search and database facilities, it was re-launched as Idealist.org in August 1996.An interactive site, it is a forum where people can exchange and pool ideas and come together to garner support, with the ultimate vision of a free and dignified world for all. AWB now has an office in Argentina as well.
  This website is extremely simple to use and provides valuable information about Idealist.org and Action Without Borders. In addition, it makes a first-time visitor feel right at home and welcome. It gives information about the team, it caters to those who speak Spanish and French, in the Image Gallery are available pictures of employees and events, and a detailed history is available as well.  There are also sections that deal with funding, journalists, donations, testimonials, and Frequently Asked Questions.  Another area of the website features job opportunities and a blog. This is just an idea of what one might find at Idealist.org: there is much more!
    The vision at Action Without Borders is a world, which features freedom, equality and dignity for all, a world in which all those who want to help are encouraged and enabled to do so, and every opportunity is availed of.  "Many hands make light work" and the coming together of different people at Idealist.org will surely make light work of this ideal and help achieve it faster.  Being independent of any government or political beliefs or religious denomination, the climate at Action Without Borders is one of charity and mutual respect. The name Idealist came from the words "idea" and "list" and was started as an idea list for people who wanted to serve their communities.  It sure has served its purpose well and will continue to, given its beautiful "ideals"!
