The University of Washington was founded in 1861. Today the University is one of the top Universities for research. The school currently offers over 250 degrees in 150 departments across 18 colleges. The school is also in the list of top 60 tier one schools. The University has a rating of 40 out of 130 tier one schools. The homepage features the newest updates from the university. The right side of the homepage features the visitor’s center. From the visitor’s center can sign up for a campus tour, take a virtual tour of the website, find maps, browse the photo gallery, and check the school’s calendar. The content on the school’s website is organized under news, Safe Campus, calendar, diversity, Arts UW, libraries, continuing education, summer quarter, global affairs, student guide, business and industry, my UW, Husky sports, and UW Alumni. Users can find other sections like the Mobile web contest, the science of learning, and raise the roof. Very important sections for upcoming students and parents are calendar, student guide, continuing education, and UW sports. In these sections parents will about the various programs offered by the University of Washington. They will also find information about activities at the school, information on life as a UW student, and financial aid information.
