Ubuntu.com is the official website for the Ubuntu operating system, developed by many of the people behind Linux. The African word ubuntu means both “humanity to others” and “I am what I am because of who we all are,” and the creators chose this name to represent their intent for the operating system. The Ubuntu operating system itself is free, and you can download it for either desktops or netbooks from the respective tabs. The site also offers its own server system, called Ubuntu Server, and a cloud computing system, either private or public, for free download. The Ubuntu Project tab provides information on Ubuntu itself, as well as case studies about its usage and software derived from Ubuntu that is officially recognized by Ubuntu’s creators.
