NOAA.com is a site dedicated to the monitoring of climate conditions in the US. The acronym actually stands for National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Quite the mouthful… I can see why they shortened it. It’s a great resource for anyone interested in the climate, marine conditions, coastal restorations, fisheries management and more.

Run by the Department of Commerce, NOAA.COM has access to radars and satellites as well as some of the biggest super-computers in North America. They are pretty much the last word on the weather. Most major weather outfits in North America get their information from this site.

There is a link called “Active Weather Alerts” that displays a map of the United States when clicked on. If you are interested in what the weather is like in your town, just click on your area of the map and it will get you there. From this map you can also get information on water, air quality and a forecast.

There are multiple links to contact information for names and departments within the organization. There is also a link where you can contact your local NOAA.COM. There are different sections for weather, oceans, fisheries, climates, coasts, research and so much more.
