The IMDb or internet movie database website provides news and information about television shows, movies and actors, and it receives several million visits each month.
The homepage shows news stories, movie trailers and TV listings, and the top navigation bar directs visitors to the main features of the site. Some main features include the ‘Now Playing’ section, which provides detailed movie listings that include plot summary, main actors and video clips; the ‘IMDb TV’ section which provides free videos ranging from TV episodes to Independent short films to interviews; and the ‘Showtimes & Tickets’ section which allows the user to search by zip code and movie title for movie show times and locations in their area. Other areas of the site, such as the message board section, require registration for full access. Registration is free and consists of a few simple questions and email validation.
