Freshmeat.net is the self-described largest index and information center on the internet for Unix and cross-platform software, as well as Palm OS software. The front page features profiles of new software and recent changes to said software, like the elimination of bugs and the adding of new features. On the right is a list of recent articles about various kinds of software, the ten most popular projects, the ten most vital projects, and lists of updates from the last few days. You can also browse through all of the site’s articles in the Articles tab. The Browse Projects by Tag tab lets you look through all of the software that the site discusses by the various tags that the site sports. Each bit of software has its own profile with recent updates, ratings, operating systems, a link to its homepage, and more. If you have an account with the site, the Submit New Project tab lets you submit a new piece of software for the site to track. The About Tab provides information on the site’s mission, the Blog tab leads to the site’s blog, with administrative and site update information, and the Help tab provides support. The Sites tab provides an alternative way to look through the site’s projects.
