FatWallet is a site for finding deals, both online and in brick and mortar retail stores. Ranked in the top 1,000 websites, FatWallet reaches nearly 2.0 million visitors every month, tallying up almost 47 million page views.
Although FatWallet is a site focused on looking for bargains, the demographics do not represent the typical “bargain hunting” shopper. Well over half of all visitors (59%) are male, and less than 20% are over age 50. Over one-quarter of all visitors are of Asian descent, and almost three-quarters of all visitors have no children.
FatWallet offers several different ways to save money. Users post online coupon links, discount authorization codes, or hidden sale pages for other visitors to utilize. Users can utilize the website to compare prices at retailers throughout the web and in person, and FatWallet has a free membership that allows users to take advantage of even more discounts.
Although seemingly harmless, FatWallet has been accused by larger retailers of sabotaging their price-matching abilities. Wal-Mart, in particular, has threatened lawsuits after FatWallet posted WalMart’s prices on numerous highly underpriced products.
