Aol is an Internet services and media company owned by Time-Warner. The homepage for Aol is brightly colored with several background color choices. Users also have the option to revert back to the classic version.

The search box found news the top of the page is enhanced by Google and allows a user to choose a search of the Web, images, local, shopping and more. An option for the hottest searches is presented below the search box. A user my get an AOL toolbar or choose to make AOL their homepage.

This page can be customized by the casual user. A scrollable block on the right named My Stuff gives a user options such as mail previews for various Internet email services such as Gmail and Yahoo! Mail. Other options allow a user to search eBay, see headline links for health, new movies in theaters and more. This block may be edited for the order in which the top four choices are presented by a casual user. Another scrollable block named My Networks allows casual users to login to MySpace, AIM, Twitter, etc.

‘My Links’ is presented on the left side of the page and has several clickable links set by default such as; Amazon, eBay, Favorites, Weather and Wikipedia. A casual user may add links by clicking on an Add a link option. AOL offers an extensive directory link list which includes a wide variety of subjects such as; home, health, games, jobs and Latino. The directory also includes links to other sites such as TMZ, Mapquest and Lemondrop.

The default AOL homepage displays top stories by topic such as; ‘Top News’, ‘Sports News’ and ‘Finance News’. The top news block is set to automatically scroll with several different stories. The page has many advertisements
