World Net Daily is the online news organization of the Oregon-based World Journalism Center. Founded by Joseph Farah in 1997, World Net Daily is known as a radical, right-wing, evangelical, and conservative news outlet. Based on investigative reporting, its mission statement is dedicated to “uncompromising journalism, seeking truth and justice and revitalizing the role of the free press as a guardian of liberty.”
Much of World Net Daily’s news is aimed at uncovering government abuse, corporate fraud, and the abuse and denigration of consumer and civil rights.
The demographics of visitors to this site are very much representative of right-wing, conservative voters: 60% male, 91% Caucasian, and 80% with no children. With an average monthly traffic of 1.6 million, November, 2008 saw a peak in traffic at World Net Daily, presumably because of the Presidential election. During election week, traffic hit 2.6 million visitors.
