Voanews.com is the website of Voice of America, a multimedia international broadcasting service launched in 1942 and funded by the United States Government.

The homepage features the latest world news headlines, as well as news by region, special features, such as health news and special reports, a list of Voice of America radio programs, and a list of the site’s social networking profiles. The homepage also features a link to the VOA’s community site at myvoa.com, as well as links to stories from reporters around the world, background information on important news events, an ‘Off the beaten path’ section, featuring unscripted coverage of controversial issues, and a list of VOA bloggers from around the world.

The ‘Regions/Topics’ section provides a list of the latest global headlines sorted by region and topic, such as arts and entertainment and lifestyle. The ‘Video’ section displays news videos, presidential speeches, and other videos related to politics, the economy, U.S life and arts, and science and health. The ‘Programs’ section provides links to VOA TV and radio programs sorted by language. The ‘English Learning’ section provides links to world news and articles on world history that are written in “Special English.” The “Special English” program is designed for who speak English as a second language. Articles and stories in this format are edited to use a core vocabulary of 1500 English words, are read at a slower pace, and aims to help people who are not fluent in English learn to speak the language.
