VersionTracker.com is a Cnet utility website, containing links to software updates and upgrades and patches for software applications. Existing may log in on this page. New users may create a free account. Users may select from Windows, Mac OS X, iPhone, or Palm OS to view available downloads. Mac users may then select from Leopard, Tiger, Panther, Jaguar, or Mac Classic. Windows users may select from 2000, 2003, XP, or Vista. Once selections are made current updates are displayed for the selected use. Users may also choose to view 'Updates by Category', 'Top Downloads' 'Editors Picks' and 'My Tools'.
The current updates results display a brief description of the application, the file size and the type of license. Update categories include Audio/Video, Business/productivity, Design/Graphics, Desktop Enhancements, Drivers, Gadgets, Games, Home/Education, Internet, iPod/iTunes, IT & Network Administration, Mobile/Media Devices, Security/Privacy, System/Utilities and Web & Software Development. Users may also choose to browse updates by license type.
The home page also features links to Cnet forums and MacFixit.com. A free trail scan by VersionTracker Pro is offered to detect and repair out-of-date drivers and software. This application will also notify users when new updates are available. Other featured blocks include Cnet news and reviews by PC World.
