Today.com is a blog network and directory. Blogs are hosted on the site and bloggers have the potential to earn through advertising and sales revenue sharing, product reviews and referrals. Bloggers are paid on a monthly basis once their account reaches a minimum of $50. The site states 5% of their revenue share earnings will be donated to charity. The home page displays the blog categories of ‘News’, ‘Business’, ‘Sports’, ‘Entertainment’, ‘Health’, ‘Hobbies’, ‘Living’ and ‘Technology’, with some subcategories listed under each.
A recent post from a featured blog is displayed with the name of the blog, a hyperlinked title and how long ago the post was published. Other featured block on the home page include link lists of ‘Our Fastest Growing Blog’ and the top ten ‘Yesterday’s Top Blog’.
‘The Freelance Writing Jobs’ link at the top of the home page and the ‘Apply to VIP Blogger Program’ link found at the bottom of the page both lead to a registration page. The application requires bloggers choose a category from an extensive drop down list, submit a proposed name for a blog to be hosted on the site and enter a user name and email address. If the proposed blog name is available the following page requires full contact information and a writing sample of at least 200 words.
