Tiny URL is a website that was created for web users that are sick of posting URLs in emails that break when sent causing the recipient to have to cut and paste the URL back together. What Tiny URL does is it allows you copy and past a long URL from your address bar and paste it into their Tiny URL creator. After one clicks “Make TinyURL” one receives a shorter version of his or her link that does not break in email and never expires. To make the task of creating a TinyURL easier, the website now offers a toolbar that allows the user to be able to make a TinyURL at the click of a button. By clicking on the toolbar button, a TinyURL will be created for the page in which the user is currently at. TinyURL also allows the user to make a smaller URL that will work for any page on one’s web site. Also, if the user is posting something that he or she doesn’t want people to know that it is an affiliate link, he can enter the URL into TinyURL and the affiliate link will be hidden from the visitor. The layout of the TinyURL webpage is very simple, minimal picture and mainly text. There is a menu on the left hand side of the page. The menu has options such as Home, Example, Make a Toolbar Button, Redirection, Hide URLs, Preview Feature, Link to us, Terms of Use, and contact us. All of the links on the menu, however, do not lead to a new page but simple a lower section of the homepage in which the information is located.
