This site idea came from the cable entrepreneur Joseph E. Gibbs. He wanted to launch a 24 hour golf network. Gibbs met Arnold Palmer and they launched the Golf Channel which was the first fully digital production facility in the U.S. In its first year the Golf Channel televised 23 domestic tournaments and 41 European and Australian events.
