Rockyou.com creates applications for use on social networking sites. The site also allows users to upload an unlimited number of photos less than 3MB in size. Photos may be uploaded from files on the user’s computer or from other sites online.

The uploaded photos can then be shared and used to create slideshows. During creation of the slideshow a user may select a theme and music. Once the slideshow is created, users are given the option to post the slideshow to one of the listed external sites, email it, or share it with friends on AOL instant messenger. The default selection is MySpace.

It is not necessary to register for an account to create a slideshow or post it. However, some features are unavailable without an account. Once a slideshow is created without an account it cannot be re-accessed for editing.

Various other widgets created by this site are available for adding to external sites. Superpets are a highly popular widget. A user chooses a virtual pet and earns ‘coins’ by taking care of the pet. The pet must be fed, walked, bathed, hugged and played with to keep it healthy and happy.

This site is not intended for children under age 13. An account holder must affirm that he or she is 18 years or older and able to accept the terms of service. Less than half of the visitors to this site are from the United States.
