Publix Super Market (commonly known as Publix) is America’s Largest Regional Grocery Chains consisting of 1,013 supermarkets. Publix started in 1930 by founder George W. Jenkins in Winter Haven, Florida. Therefore, continuing to expand and develop its chain in Lakeland, Florida. Publix has operations in five states: Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Alabama. It hires over 140,050 employees at their retail locations, cooking schools, corporate offices, eight grocery distribution centers, and nine Publix brand manufacturing facilities which produce its dairy, deli, bakery, and other food products. In addition, Publix provides a comprehensive “special order” service. It’s a service of irregularly stocked or rare item from almost all departments, even some products carried only by Publix’s competitors, can be ordered through this service. This service includes some products that are normally only found at health food stores, including organic meats, fruits, and vegetables; in addition to vegetarian and vegan products; hypoallergenic foods; and other specialty food items. This service can be used at any Publix customer service counter. Their market has vastly expanded in order to outweigh competitors and satisfy consumer’s demand. The Apron’s Simple Meals is a recent addition that performs cooking demonstrations. Customers are encouraged to sample easy-to-make, nutritious dishes prepared at in-store kiosks and take a recipe card home with them. Apron’s Cooking School currently operates in five locations in Boca Raton FL, Alpharetta GA, Tampa FL, Sarasota FL, and Jacksonville FL. This second addition of Publix developed classes designed to aid and assist consumers of their cooking skills at home. They feature renowned chefs, authors, and cooking celebrities as well as experienced cooking instructors. Classes are held for children, teens, and parents. Publix Sabor, a third addition, is a Hispanic-themed supermarket that features Hispanic ethnic products and has a café in the delis/bakery area that serves Hispanic food. Other markets are the Publix Green Wise Markets – mostly related to health food foods, Pharmacy, and Little Clinic.
