Once associated with piracy of audio files, Napster is back and it has a new business model. Now working much like iTunes, users are required to download and install Napster to their computers. From there, users have three options regarding membership type: With Napster Light, users are charged per song or album that they download; Napster subscribers are charged $12.95 per month to access all of Napster’s features and download music, but must still pay for each track that they wish to transfer onto a portable audio device; and Napster To Go users pay $14.95 per month for unlimited access to all of Napster’s features, including the ability to transfer music onto up to three different portable audio devices.
In addition to downloading, users are able to build their own custom radio stations, discover new music through existing Napster radio stations, or share their music with the Napster community.
