The ecard site that started in 2004 as a one-off with a spoof song (“This Land is Your Land”) sung by bobble-headed photos of George Bush and presidential election opponent John Kerry. Jibjab proved to be so popular that they soon started customizing webcards and are the perpetrators of the great 2008 Christmas season “elf-yourself” ecard business, where customers could, well, “elf” themselves by inserting photos of their faces onto elf-bodies. And then there’s the 2008 “zombie politician video creator.” Now JibJab has scored $7.5m reinvestment from Polaris Venture and has just announced (1/26/09) that they are partnering with MTV in what is called “vertical advertising”: MTV networks will sell all advertising inventory on JibJab sites (Alex Weprin -- Broadcasting & Cable, 1 January, 2009). If anyone out there understands what I just typed, please let me know.
