Jango.com is a social music service based in New York City that lets visitors create personalized radio stations using music found on the internet.

The homepage features a search bar where visitors can search for music by artist name. Visitors can also select a pre-made station in several different music genres.

Once a visitor searches for an artist, a radio station is created and the latest music from that artist is played. The music player widget lets visitors rate the songs and view a list of listeners, as well as add songs from other listener’s stations. The ‘Lyrics’ link redirects visitors to metrolyrics.com, the ‘Share’ link lets registered members share a link to music in their station via IM or email, and the ‘Buy’ link provides links to itunes.com and amazon.com where visitors can purchase the songs on their stations.

The ‘Home’ tab displays a list of artists the visitor may like based on their search. The ‘Music’ tab displays an artist page with links to a biography, photos, videos, song lists, fan clubs, and a list of Jango members that are following the artist. The ‘People’ tab displays thumbnails and listening information of site users, and provides a search tool that lets visitors search for users by name, sex, age, username, and email.

While registration is not required to create a station, it is required in order to save the station, add music to the station, create a profile, and interact with other members.

The site also offers a service called Jango Airplay to registered artists and music labels that lets musicians create a profile and upload their music for a fee. This service can be accessed from the homepage by clicking the orange ‘Artists & Labels: Get your music on Jango’ link.

Due to the nature of the site, it is most popular with teenagers and young adults.
