Imax.com is the official website of IMAX Corporation, the Canadian-based film/camera company responsible for the creation of the IMAX format, which allows for the recording and display of images of greater size and higher resolution than other formats. The website itself is largely for finding nearby theaters that have IMAX. To find IMAX theaters near you, just enter your location into the Location word box (right next to the Find Your IMAX arrow). You will then be presented with a map with all IMAX theaters in your area. Each of the map markers has links to the theaters’ official websites, where you can find out show times and purchase tickets. You can also go to the Buy Tickets Now section for special IMAX showings. The IMAX Experience section provides information on IMAX technology, IMAX’s educational mission, and what IMAX theaters look like, complete with a virtual tour of a typical IMAX theater. The IMAX Movies section lists all movies that are currently being shown in the IMAX format, with search functions for easy browsing and links to further information and tickets. The site also includes a list of upcoming IMAX films and information on IMAX contests that you can enter to win various IMAX prizes.
