Hi5.com is a social networking website launched in 2003 that allows visitors to connect with friends and family, and meet new people online. The site requires that visitors complete a free registration in order to access all of the available features. However, unregistered visitors can access the games in the ‘Games’ tab and can view group topics and member lists in the ‘Groups’ tab.

Visitors can sign up by clicking the ‘Join’ link and submitting a short online registration form. Once registered, a member can search for friends by name or email and they can create a profile with basic information such as name, age, hometown, photos, and more. Members can also change the color scheme of their profile by clicking on the ‘Customize Profile’ link, or by clicking the ‘Skin my Profile’ link which displays different profile design templates. The ‘Photos’ tab lets members add photos and view their friends’ most recently uploaded photos and albums. The ‘Messages’ tab displays the most recent messages and friend requests sent and received. The ‘Applications’ tab lets members select from a wide range of applications to add to their profiles; these applications can be functional or playful, and can generally be shared with friends. The ‘Groups’ tab lets members search for groups by keyword or category and displays a list of groups joined by friends.

When a member logs in, they are redirected to the ‘Home’ section where members can view recent profile visitors and friend updates, and any alerts such as new messages or friend requests.
