ExpertLaw.com was founded in 1997 to provide a free mechanism by which attorneys could locate expert witnesses in a wide variety of fields, without cost. As much as possible, we wish to remove the "middle man," allowing attorneys to retain experts without paying finders fees or referral fees. In addition, we provide free legal information, to assist experts, attorneys, and the general public on legal issues, and to provide information of interest to expert witnesses and litigation attorneys. We also offer a directory of litigation support services, and private detetives, and a legal humor section. The actual website is divided into eight different categories. The categories are labeled as home, legal articles, expert witnesses, investigators, litigation support, links, lawyers, and law forums. The website also features a search feature that allows the visitor to search either through the entire web or only through the Expert Law site. The websites’ homepage features various articles on popular topics such as personal injury, medical malpractice, personal finance, workers compensation, workers comp by state, family law, business law, bankruptcy, criminal law, drunk driving, and estate planning. The website is filled with advertisements on many of the pages suggesting that the website is supported through advertising.
