Donotcall.gov is the website of the National Do Not Call Registry, a service managed by the Federal Trade Commission that allows visitors to eliminate telephone calls from telemarketers by registering their number with the site.

Visitors can register their home phone number and mobile number by clicking the ‘Register’ or ‘Register a Phone number’ links, and entering their phone number and email address. Once the numbers have been on the registry for 31 days or more, telemarketers will not be allowed to call those numbers.

The ‘Verify a Number’ section lets visitors verify if and when their number was registered. The ‘More Information’ section provides links to consumer information, business information, and media information, all on the Federal Trade Commission website at ftc.gov.

The ‘File a Complaint’ section lets visitors file a claim against sellers or telemarketers for violating the Do Not Call rules. The phone number in question must have been registered for 31 days or more before a complaint can be file, and the person filing the complaint must provide the date the call was received, as well as the name or address of the company who called.

The telemarketing.donotcall.gov link provided on the complaint page lets telemarketers and sellers register their business with the site in order to perform the mandatory monthly search of the Do Not Call Registry. This monthly search is required by law in order for sellers and telemarketers to update their records.
