This self-proclaimed blog social network and blog directory carries the tagline; “rediscover news”. The site has more of a social bookmarking appearance with the majority of users re-posting news stories from other sources. The home page displays post titles with 40 – 100 word teasers, the original source, the number of tweets, and buttons for registered users to comment, vote up, share, or ‘Live Chat’.
‘Top Stories’ are the default display and users may select to view ‘Hot Stories’. Registered users may also select ‘Followed Blogs’, or ‘My Blogs’. Additional registered user features include ‘Chatter’, ‘Profile’, ‘Follow Blogs’, ‘Find People’, ‘Inbox’ and ‘Settings’. Headline links are displayed under the heading of ‘Hot Discussions’. The top 20 ‘Popular Blogs’ are listed and the view may be altered to display ‘Highest Rated’, or ‘Most Discussed’.
The ‘Blog Directory’ link at the top of the home page allows users to view a complete listing of blog categories. The topic page includes a link list under ‘Browse by Topic’, which displays the number of blogs found on this site under each topic category.
Some of the featured blogs are run by easily recognized names such as ESPN, TechCrunch and Perez Hilton. This site has apparently experienced a recent resurgence as many of the most popular blogs listed had no new posts for months, in some cases years, until recently.
