Allexperts.com is a free question and answer service created in 1998. The site relies mainly on the volunteer experts who answer questions submitted by site visitors on a wide variety of subjects ranging from arts and humanities to parenting to travel. Any person can apply to become a volunteer expert by navigating to their category of expertise and clicking on ‘Volunteer’ from the left hand menu. This redirects the user to an application form that requests basic information like name and email, as well as the applicant’s educational and professional background; this background information will become part of the volunteer’s public profile if the applicant is accepted.

A visitor can ask a question by navigating to their category of interest and clicking on a topic within that category. Once there, the visitor can click ‘Ask a question’ from the left hand menu. If a visitor prefers to view the expert’s credentials before asking a question, they can click on ‘Experts of the month’ from the left hand menu or ‘Meet Top Experts’ from the menu at the top on the homepage. Once there, users can see a list of the top experts, their areas of expertise and their rating; clicking on any category of expertise redirects the visitor to the expert’s profile.
